Privacy Policy

We collect what we need to verify who is on the platform, move money safely, and settle disputes. Two things are worth knowing up front: we read and scan messages sent through the platform, and providers go through identity verification. Everything else follows from those.
1. Who is responsible for your data
Urban Solution Ltd is the data controller for personal data processed through UrbanSolutions. We are subject to the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA).
For questions, requests or complaints about your data, contact admin@urbansolutions.com.ng.
2. What we collect
Account details — name, email address, phone number, and the state and area you operate in or are based in.
Provider verification — for artisans, vendors and agents: identity document details, which may include NIN or BVN, business information, guarantor names and contact details, and portfolio images. Clients do not go through this.
Transaction records — what was requested, bid, bought or booked; amounts; delivery and service addresses; and payment references. We do not receive or store card numbers.
Messages — everything sent through the platform, including messages that were withheld and the reason they were withheld.
Technical data — device and browser information, and the cookies described in our Cookie Notice.
3. Bringing a catalogue from another platform
Many providers already sell on another marketplace, on Instagram, or from a WhatsApp catalogue. You can bring those listings with you, and there are only two ways that happens.
You upload them yourself. You export or assemble your listings and import them from your dashboard. Nobody else touches them.
Or you ask us to do it for you. If a member of our team is helping you join, they can carry your catalogue across on your behalf — but only after you have given approval, and we record who gave it and when. Without that record we do not migrate anything.
We do not collect listings, prices, photographs or contact details from any other platform unless you have asked us to. There is no automated harvesting of other marketplaces, and we do not buy or scrape seller data.
What comes across is what you list here: product titles, descriptions, prices, stock levels and images. You remain responsible for having the right to use the images and text you bring, and you can edit or delete any of it afterwards from your dashboard.
4. We read messages sent through the platform
Stated plainly because it is the thing people least expect. Every message sent through UrbanSolutions is scanned automatically for contact details, and messages containing them are withheld from the recipient. Our admin team can read message threads, and does so when handling a complaint.
The purpose is narrow: keeping conversations on the platform is what allows us to hold money in escrow and intervene in a dispute. Once a conversation moves to WhatsApp, neither protection exists.
Do not use platform messages for anything you would not want an administrator to read.
5. Why we process it, and on what basis
To perform our contract with you — creating your account, matching requests to providers, processing payments, holding escrow, delivering orders.
Because we have a legitimate interest — verifying providers, detecting fraud, moderating messages and reviews, and keeping the platform secure. We consider these proportionate to the risk of an unverified marketplace handling other people’s money.
Because the law requires it — tax and financial records, and responding to lawful requests.
With your consent — marketing emails, and non-essential cookies. You can withdraw either at any time; withdrawing does not affect processing that already happened.
6. Who we share it with
We do not sell personal data. We share it with service providers who process it on our instructions:
Clerk — authentication and account sign-in.
Our database and hosting provider — storing the platform’s data.
Paystack — payment processing.
Resend — transactional email.
Identity verification partners — confirming government identity details supplied by providers.
Some of these operate outside Nigeria, so your data may be transferred and stored abroad. Where that happens we rely on the transfer conditions permitted by the NDPA and require appropriate safeguards by contract.
If you sign in with Google, Apple or TikTok, that provider tells us your name, email address and profile picture. We receive nothing else — no contacts, no files, no activity — and we use what we receive solely to create and identify your UrbanSolutions account. You can instead register with an email address and password and share none of it.
We also share what is necessary to complete a transaction: a provider delivering to you receives your delivery address and the name and phone number needed to deliver. Clients are never shown a provider’s full name in the directory or in bidding — providers appear under a shortened name until a project is under way.
7. How long we keep it
Account and transaction records are kept while your account is open and afterwards for as long as we need them for tax, accounting and dispute-resolution purposes.
Message threads are kept for the life of the transaction they relate to and a period afterwards, because a complaint raised later cannot be assessed without them.
Verification documents are kept while a provider is active on the platform.
8. Your rights
Under the NDPA you may ask us to:
give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you; correct data that is wrong; delete data we no longer have a reason to keep; restrict or object to certain processing; or provide your data in a portable form.
You can withdraw consent for marketing at any time, from the link in any marketing email or from your account.
Some data we cannot delete on request — transaction and tax records in particular, and information needed to defend a legal claim. Where we refuse a request we will tell you why.
Write to admin@urbansolutions.com.ng. If you are not satisfied with our response you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
9. Security
Access to personal data is restricted to the people who need it. Payment card details never reach our systems. Administrative actions on accounts, money and moderation are recorded.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach occurs that is likely to affect your rights, we will notify you and the Commission as the NDPA requires.
10. Children
The platform is not for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has an account, tell us and we will remove it.
11. Changes
If we change how we use your data in a way that affects you, we will tell you before it takes effect. The date at the top of this page is when this policy last changed.
